The Watchtower, Awake!, Our Kingdom Ministry
The Witnesses have been called "apostles of denial" because of their rejection or distortion of nearly every significant Christian doctrine. One of their principal differences with orthodox Christianity is their adamant denial of the Trinity, and specifically, their insistence that Jesus was a created being. They identify with Arius, the 4th century presbyter from Alexandria, who promoted this view in the early church. This led to the Council of Nicea (AD 325) and the formulation of the Nicene Creed, one of the doctrinal summaries accepted by virtually all Christians.
Among numerous points of conflict are the Watchtower Society’s repeated attempts to foretell the end of the world (e.g., 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975) and their requirement that adherents reject blood transfusions, even at the cost of their lives.
