The church is strongly linked to the "Word-Faith" movement.
Tadeu has been accused in the Portuguese media—as well as by evangelical critics such as Paulo Romeiro—of promoting an extreme (and sometimes abusive) form of "health and wealth" theology. Tadeu has also been quoted as saying that God permits polygamy today.
Maná was declared illegal in Angola in early 2008.
